About Elaine

I practice as a multicultural healer and Feldenkrais teacher, shamanic practitioner, and counselor who is trained in EMDR. I teach various forms of shamatha meditation as I learned them under the instruction of my teacher, Thrangu Rinpoche. Essentially, I'm an indigenous American healer, born and raised in Austin, Texas, with many healing threads that weave together into a tapestry as unique and complex as the people I help.

I dance with Julie Nathanielsz and Heloise Gold, both recipients of Austin Critics' Table awards for their work. I've also worked with Abel Coelho, Maureen Momo Freehill, and Karen Nelson and Margit Galanter learning Tuning Scores. In addition to dance, I studied Cuban, Brazilian, and Puerto Rican percussion for a number of years, along with recent studies of Middle Eastern percussion.

Elaine is a Feldenkrais teacher/practitioner in her 13th year of practice. Learn more about that on the Feldenkrais and Classes pages. She is the legislative representative for the Feldenkrais Guild of North America in the state of Texas.
She is a Licensed Professional Counselor finding her theoretical base in developmental psychodynamic theory, attachment theory, and emerging research in the role of somatic experience in healthy self-image and the healing of trauma and PTSD.
She was awarded a Communities in Schools Outstanding Volunteer award for her work with LGBTQIA adolescents in the 2011-2012 academic year.  She ran the only middle school group for LGBTQIA kids in the state of Texas for two years.
She is certified in the Tara Approach, an energy medicine system developed by Dr. Stephanie Mines.
She teaches shamatha and tonglen meditation in the Karma Kagyu style of Tibetan Buddhism.  She has completed three levels of Shambhala Art teacher training.

She has
been a Goth since she was about 17 years old
She is a Virgo with a Scorpio moon and five planets in the 12th house with sextiles into Neptune. Apparently this makes her a super spooky ultra powerful psychic healer. (It's great for work, not so much for dating.)
She makes a mean posole, New Mexican style.
And so on, and so forth.

You can contact her by sending an email:, or calling or texting:  (512) 470-4268.
